2/16-17/08

Game 1:
The UCF Baseball club team worked out some of the rust in the first game of the regular season. Competing against a very talented Georgia club, the Knights were defeated 3-13. The game was not without a couple standouts for the Knights. Eric Wilkinson started off the season on a great note going 3-4 with 2 stolen bases and a run scored. Cameron White came up big out of the bullpen for the Knights, silencing the bats of the Bulldogs while allowing only 1 hit in 3.1 innings of relief work. Joe Teti also chipped in with a double.

Game 2:
In the second game of the double header, the Knights began to hit their stride. After a rough start with 4 runs scoring in the first inning, Dan Mason buckled down to pitch a complete game allowing only the initial four runs. The bats also came alive a bit for the Knights. Cody Burdette led the offensive attack going 3-4 with a double and a stolen base. Tim Bannigan also smacked a double during the game and scored the go ahead run. Nick Kautz and Ruly Gonzalez also lit up the basepaths collecting 2 steals each, with Ruly scoring 2 big runs for the Knights. Kyle Diener and Cody Burdette also turned 3 double plays en route to a 5-4 Knights victory.

Game 3:
In the third game of the series the Knights fought the Bulldogs hard but came up just short in the end. Leading the offensive attack going 2-4 for the Knights was Nick Kautz. In the fifth inning, Nick blasted a home run and earlier chipped in with a hard single. Mike Sterkel smacked a double in a 1-3 effort. Nick Stridfeldt turned in a solid performance nearly going for a complete game. The Knights had a few opportunities to win the closely contested game but came up short in the end with a 4-7 loss.
