SECRHL – UCF Wins Conference Tournament!!

This past weekend the Roller Hockey A Team made the commute to Snellville, GA for the South Eastern Regional Championships. Going into the tournament we were 4th seed and had a tough schedule against the Top seed from both the South and North conference, UF and University of South Carolina. We beat USC 12-4 in our first game, and then tied UF 2-2. We were winning the UF game all the way into the middle of the 3rd period where we gave up to short-handed goals. In the quarter final game we played the number 2 seed for the north conference, NC State. We managed to control the game and beat them 10-5. We then had to face UF once again in the semi final game. We came out flying and jumped up quick 3-1 in the first period. We controlled the rest of the game and beat them 10-5. Our championship game we had to play the number one seed, FIU. During the regular season we did not match up very well against them. Again like earlier we came out hard and FIU didn’t know what hit them. We finished the championship game with a 6-2 victory. The B team has also won their region, although didn’t have to compete at the regional championship tournament; it was solely based up regular season record. Both teams have received an auto bid to nationals and will be competing in Colorado Springs, CO April 9-14.
