SECRHL – Second Semester – Fast and Furious!

The SECRHL has seen two, very busy, back to back weekends so far in February holding events at the SGAA Dual Deck Hockey Arena & Pro Shop in Snellville, GA on Feb. 2nd and 3rd and hosting Army and Towson in cross regional play at the Sportsplex Indoor Sports & Event Center in Winchester, VA on Feb. 9th and 10th. Somewhere between all of the great games being played to determine regional playoff positioning, the SGAA event witnessed a great showing of youth players participating in the NCRHA/Mission Hockey College headed up by the University of Central Florida’s seasoned Junior, Jeff Cohen. Almost 50 youth skaters from miles around came out for this steadily growing, popular youth clinic conducted by NCRHA college players nationally and sponsored by Mission Hockey. This was the first Mission Hockey College event hosted by the SECRHL and certainly won’t be the last. Cohen did a great job in planning this one-hour free clinic and enjoyed the experience. “It was a honor to be asked to head up the Mission Hockey College and to give back to the community. When I was younger, I would have loved to be able to skate and have instruction by older, more experienced players. I think this hockey college event is an excellent learning experience for youth players of all skill levels and a great way to find out about more about college roller hockey.”

J.R. Shortall, SECRHL Commissioner adds, “We would like to do this again in the fall when we kick off the 2008-2009 season. The interest in the college information station was great to see. It’s a cool way to give back to the younger players of the sport and with the great support we receive from the South Gwinnett Athletic Association (SGAA) and league directors, I’ll bet it will be even bigger next time around.”
With plenty of other youth hockey being played concurrently, there was a great crowd all around checking out the college information station and visiting additional NCRHA’s sponsors displays, Revision Hockey and Ace Jersey’s who both support the collegiate leagues and make an impact with great product offerings exclusive to all NCRHA member teams.

The SECRHL finishes up its regular season play this upcoming weekend (Feb. 23 and 24) at the Supergoose in Savannah GA and heads back to the SGAA for their grand Regional Championship finale March 1 and 2! Come on out and watch some great college hockey!
